Surge’s Heavy Duty Rod Holder boasts a sturdy deck mount that can be attached horizontally to gunwales or other vertical surfaces, or in a more conventional vertical/flat orientation on a deck. A full-length rod butt cage securely holds the rod in place while allowing it to swivel upward for effortless rod release when needed, without sacrificing stability.
The rod holder slots firmly into the deck mount and is fastened using a bayonet-style fitting. A slot in the deck mount’s openings permits a key tab on the rod holder’s pin to pass through and insert completely; a slight turn of the rod holder once inserted prevents it from being pulled out. For convenient transportation, the rod holder can be quickly and easily removed from the deck mount without the need for tools.
The rod holder’s angle is adjusted with a plastic stainless steel thumb screw and is indexed to ensure the position remains stable, even under load, once tightened.
The deck base mount uses the exact same mounting hole pattern as used by Scotty and Railblaza
Note: the rod butt cage is best suited for smaller, lighter weight fishing rods. Rod butts with a bulb on the base might be too fat to fit inside the cage
